The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission has established dedicated electricity complaints resolution panels to address unresolved disputes between consumers and electricity service providers, particularly over billing and metering.
The panels will commence their inaugural hearings on Wednesday, 4 November, and Thursday, 5 November, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises in Victoria Island and Alausa, Ikeja. The initial sessions will consider unresolved consumer grievances arising within the Eko Power Limited and IEEL electricity distribution areas.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the initiative is aimed at strengthening consumer protection and providing a structured mechanism for resolving disputes between electricity consumers and service providers across the state.
The commission said the panels would provide consumers with access to prompt, fair, transparent and impartial dispute resolution processes, while strengthening accountability in electricity service delivery.
Commenting on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of LASERC, Mrs Temitope George, emphasised that efficient dispute resolution mechanisms are fundamental to protecting consumer rights and fostering a responsive regulatory environment.
She affirmed that electricity consumers deserve an impartial hearing and fair consideration of their grievances, noting that the panels demonstrate LASERC’s pledge to provide structured redress channels in which consumer concerns are substantively addressed.

George added that the commission remains dedicated to deepening public engagement, enforcing regulatory compliance, and driving service quality improvements across all operating utilities.
To ensure balanced deliberations, LASERC said the panels comprise multidisciplinary professionals with recognised expertise in law, alternative dispute resolution, electrical engineering, commerce, finance and consumer rights advocacy.
The commission also stated that personnel currently employed by electricity distribution companies or LASERC had been excluded from membership to protect the integrity, independence and objectivity of the proceedings.
The initiative, it was added, aligns with LASERC’s regulatory mandate to institutionalise transparency, promote market accountability and resolve disputes through structured frameworks.
The commission encouraged electricity consumers with unresolved complaints about billing accuracy, metering and other operational deficiencies to submit their grievances through its official resolution channels.
