The Lagos State Government will on Wednesday begin discussions on the economic risks and policy priorities that could shape the state’s 2027 outlook at its fourth Lagos Economic Roundtable, according to a statement obtained by The PUNCH on Monday.
The roundtable, organised by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, will bring together policymakers, economists, development partners and private sector representatives at Protea Hotel, Lagos, to examine the state’s economic outlook and identify policy responses for the coming year.
Themed “Development Pathways, Emerging Risks and Strategic Policy Priorities,” the meeting will focus on fiscal sustainability, infrastructure, investment, employment, economic diversification, food security and climate resilience, among other issues.
The Director of Economic Intelligence, Akinkunmi Alao, said the roundtable would provide an opportunity to examine economic indicators and emerging trends and develop responses to risks that could affect Lagos’ economic performance.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, said the state needed deliberate policy choices as it prepared for 2027.

“The economic outlook for 2027 requires deliberate policy choices that will strengthen our resilience, sustain economic growth and position Lagos for greater competitiveness,” George said.
“Our focus must remain on fiscal sustainability, infrastructure, innovation, employment generation and inclusive growth, while ensuring that our policies are aligned with the long-term vision of the Lagos State Development Plan 2052,” he added.
The government said discussions at the roundtable would also cover evidence-based governance and the mobilisation of investment, with participants expected to make recommendations that would inform the state’s economic priorities for 2027 and beyond.
