A Nigerian-born, UK-based gospel musician, Oyinloluwa Bamidele, has explained how his experience as a bassist influenced the sound and arrangement of his song, ‘He’s Good’, featuring Sam Petts and Cole IZRL.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop,, Oyinloluwa said his understanding of rhythm and harmony informed the song’s instrumental foundation.
“As a bassist, I pay attention to the foundation of a song and how the rhythm and harmony work together. For ‘He’s Good’, the bass guitar was an important part of building the instrumental and giving the song its groove,” he said.
Oyinloluwa, who also handled the song’s production and arrangement, said the inspiration behind the song emerged from reflecting on his journey and recognising God’s goodness despite unmet expectations.
“I wanted to communicate a simple but meaningful message: gratitude does not require life to be perfect. Even in moments of uncertainty, there are reasons to recognise and celebrate God’s faithfulness.

“As a songwriter, I also consider how the music supports the message and how the different sections connect.”
Sam Petts and Cole IZRL contributed their own verses, bringing different musical styles to the recording. The song combines Afro-Gospel with contemporary Christian music and rap.
Discussing his approach to gospel music, Oyinloluwa said, “I see gospel music as both a profession and a form of service to God. Whether I am playing bass guitar, producing music, or writing songs, I want my work to communicate faith and bless lives.”
