Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has named a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania.
According a statement obtained from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF’s) website on Saturday, Team captain Wilfred Ndidi headlines the squad alongside defenders Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and forwards Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams.
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Arthur Okonkwo and Francis Uzoho are also included in the squad.
Other notable selections include Ola Aina, Benjamin Fredricks, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Abdullahi Bewene, Tochukwu Nnadi, Samson Tijani and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Nigeria will host Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before travelling to Zanzibar for the return fixture at the Amman Stadium on Tuesday, November 17.
The two matches are crucial to Nigeria’s qualification hopes, with the Super Eagles currently occupying second position in Group L.
Nigeria must secure victories in both encounters to strengthen their chances of claiming the group’s only qualification ticket for the final tournament.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda next summer.
