AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze will miss Thursday’s Europa League tie away to Bournemouth because of a left hip problem.

According to Milan News reports, the Nigerian sat out the club’s final training session at Milanello ahead of the match and will undergo a specialist examination to determine the extent of the injury.

Milan are said to be concerned about how serious it is.

The 26-year-old developed the problem after Milan’s 3-2 Serie A victory over Atalanta on October 18, and no return date has been set for him.

The fixture at the Vitality Stadium on October 22 is Milan’s third league-phase match in this season’s Europa League.

His absence reduces the attacking options available to head coach Ruben Amorim on the right flank, with Chukwueze having featured regularly under the Portuguese this season.

Milan are already dealing with other fitness problems. Alexis Saelemaekers is sidelined following ankle surgery, while Matteo Gabbia also missed the final training session. Both are expected to be out for a few months.

Filippo Terracciano trained with the group but is unavailable because he is suspended following the red card he received last Thursday in Salzburg. Midfielder Warren Bondo also trained, but he was not included in the club’s UEFA squad list. Milan Futuro defender Valeri Vladimirov joined the first-team squad for the session.

Milan will hope the results of the medical assessment provide a clearer picture of his recovery period before they decide how to manage his return to action.
