Cavista Technologies has partnered with Babcock University to equip students with practical Artificial Intelligence skills and industry experience as demand for technology talent grows.

The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the university in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, will expose 300- and 400-level students to real-world AI applications, industry mentorship and practical learning opportunities.

The initiative will also provide students with insights into how emerging technologies address complex challenges across different sectors.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Vice President and General Manager of Cavista Technologies, Oye Morakinyo, said the partnership would help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements.

Morakinyo said, “Today’s Memorandum of Understanding represents more than a signed document. It represents a shared commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice, and between potential and opportunity.”

She said the collaboration would give students opportunities to learn from experienced technology professionals and gain practical exposure to industry challenges.

“Through this MoU, we are creating meaningful opportunities for students to gain hands-on exposure to real-world industry challenges, learning directly from our engineers and professionals with deep technical and business experience. Together, we are investing in the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and technology leaders who will shape the future and drive meaningful impact in society,” she said.

The partnership will feature a structured mini-curriculum jointly developed by both organisations to connect classroom learning with practical industry applications.

Morakinyo said the initiative would also support the company’s long-term talent development strategy by helping it identify and nurture prospective technology professionals.

She said, “Beyond equipping students with practical AI skills and real-world industry exposure, this partnership creates a strong talent pipeline for Cavista. We are intentional about attracting, developing, and retaining some of the best and brightest minds, and collaborations like this help us identify and nurture tomorrow’s technology leaders.”

The President and Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Ojewole, said the partnership would strengthen the institution’s connection with the technology industry and improve students’ preparedness for the changing world of work.

Ojewole said, “For a company that has existed for less than 10 years, Cavista has built an extraordinary legacy of innovation, excellence, and impact. This partnership comes at an opportune moment, enabling us to connect more closely with a global technology leader and create pathways that will enrich learning, advance research, and better equip our students for the future of work.”

The collaboration is also expected to provide students with access to professional networks, mentorship and industry knowledge that could improve their career prospects.

Both organisations expressed optimism that the partnership would contribute to Nigeria’s digital economy by developing a new generation of technology professionals.

Morakinyo said, “At Cavista Technologies, we often say that innovation begins with people. By investing in people, nurturing talent, and creating opportunities for growth, we create a foundation for sustainable progress and lasting impact.”

The event ended with the signing and exchange of the MoU by representatives of both organisations.
