Business owners in Cross River State have lauded Governor Bassey Otu’s economic reforms, saying his administration has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Under the aegis of the Cross River Businessmen’s Forum, the business community said the governor’s investment-friendly policies, infrastructure drive and commitment to peace and security have repositioned the state as a preferred destination for investment.
Speaking in Calabar, President of the Forum, High Chief Henry Onwe, said traders and entrepreneurs across the state have witnessed renewed confidence since Otu assumed office.
He said, “Governor Otu has shown that he understands business. From markets to the ports, there is a new sense of direction.
Businesses that were struggling are now finding their feet because government is listening and creating the right environment.”
Onwe said initiatives such as the revamping of moribund industries, improved ease of doing business, support for small and medium enterprises and the strategic push for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway have directly boosted commerce and created jobs.

He noted that the governor’s people-first approach and regular engagement with the private sector have bridged the gap between government and business owners.
“With our members across the 18 local government areas and in the diaspora, we have resolved to support the governor’s re-election bid in 2027 to sustain the current momentum.
“We have seen consistency, we have seen sincerity, and we have seen results. That is why business owners across Cross River have agreed to back Governor Otu for a second term. We want continuity of these economic gains,” Onwe added.
He called on all entrepreneurs in the state to rally behind the administration and key into government programmes aimed at expanding the state’s economy.
“We are pledging our unalloyed support. Cross River business owners will stand solidly behind Governor Otu beyond 2027,” he said.
