Buhari wouldn’t have become President without Tinubu — Kano Rep

The member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Kano State, in the House of Representatives, Abubakar Abubakar.

The member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Kano State, in the House of Representatives, Abubakar Abubakar, has said that the late President Muhammadu Buhari would not have emerged victorious in the 2015 presidential election without the political support and strategic intervention of President Bola Tinubu.

Abubakar made the remarks on Monday at a stakeholders’ meeting and inauguration of the APC Campaign Council for Bichi Federal Constituency, held at Bichi town, in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

“Tinubu made the late President Muhammadu Buhari after several unsuccessful attempts to become President. It is now time for us to compensate Tinubu for what he did for the North,” Bichi declared.

According to the Kano Federal lawmaker, the North owed President Tinubu a debt of gratitude for approving the execution of massive road construction and several developmental projects cutting across the region.

Abubaka asserted that the time had come for the Northern political establishment to reciprocate Tinubu’s support by galvanizing votes for his second-term ambition.

He disclosed that the political stakeholders in Kano North Senatorial District have resolved to deliver at least one million votes to President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He dismissed insinuations that President Tinubu was pursuing policies deliberately targeted against Northern Nigeria, describing such allegations as insincere and politically motivated.

Bichi argued that the President’s commitment to Kano State’s development, particularly through the approval of critical infrastructure projects, demonstrated his genuine concern for the region’s progress.

“Those saying President Tinubu does not like the North are not sincere. We have decided to vote massively for the President because of his developmental support for Kano,” he said.

The APC chieftain acknowledged that several developmental projects being executed in Kano State would not have been possible without President Tinubu’s support and intervention.

He maintained that the Tinubu administration had continued to demonstrate its commitment to infrastructure development through approvals and other federal interventions that have positively impacted the state.

“President Tinubu’s approvals have brought several developmental projects to Kano. There is no way I would have delivered all these projects without his support,” Bichi stated.

According to him, supporting the President was not merely a political obligation but also a way to show gratitude for his contributions to Buhari’s emergence and his continued developmental interventions in Kano State.

He said the APC was determined not only to consolidate its political dominance in Kano North but also to ensure that the senatorial district delivers the highest number of votes for President Tinubu in the state.

“We are not just talking about Bichi or Kano North; we are talking about the whole 44 local government areas. We are talking about the whole of Kano, and we will get what we want,” Bichi declared.

The lawmaker disclosed that Kano North has approximately 1.3 million registered voters, stressing that party stakeholders have resolved to mobilise at least one million votes for the APC in the forthcoming elections.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor,  Murtala Sule Garo, who represented Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf at the event, urged the campaign council to deploy necessary strength and energy to deliver all APC candidates in Kano.

Garo cautioned the campaign team to avoid any act that could threaten the peace and tranquility of Kano North residents, while encouraging APC supporters to adopt an issue-based strategy to convince the electorate.

The Director General of the APC Presidential and Governorship campaign council in Kano, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, challenged the Bichi campaign team to tap grassroots mobilizers and youth support groups to galvanize massive support for APC.

Expressing optimism about success in the January 2027 presidential and Governorship elections in Kano, he urged the campaign team to shun violence and aggression that could breach the state’s existing peace.
