Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has said Super Eagles winger Femi Azeez is getting closer to making his debut for the club as he continues his recovery from injury.
The 25-year-old signed from Millwall on September 2 on a four-year contract.
He has yet to play a competitive game for the Seagulls after picking up a hamstring problem in Millwall’s opening Championship game of the season. At Millwall, he scored 15 goals and made 13 assists in 77 appearances.
Azeez did not travel to Spain with the squad for their UEFA Conference League game against Getafe. Ferdi Kadioglu and Pascal Struijk also stayed behind. Hurzeler said the three were out through injury and not rested.
“We left no one at home for a rest, but a few players had to stay home because they are not available for tomorrow,” he told the club’s website.

He said the three players were getting closer to a return, “especially Femi”. However, he gave no date for the winger’s debut.
“They’re getting closer, especially Femi,” he added.
