The World Association for Christian Communication Africa Region has elected Lekan Otufodunrin of Journalists for Christ International Outreach, Nigeria, as its president for a four-year term.

In addition to their regional leadership roles, Otufodunrin and Joof-Cole will serve as members of the WACC UK Board.
In his acceptance remarks, Otufodunrin pledged that the new executive would implement programmes to advance the association’s focus on digital justice, gender justice and climate justice across the continent.
At the opening ceremony, the convener of the West Africa Digital Rights Defenders Coalition, Kehinde Adegboyega, called for universal digital access, rights safeguards and data sovereignty in Africa.
Delivering a keynote address titled Ensuring Digital Justice in Africa, Adegboyega said regional efforts should focus on capacity building, policy advocacy, coalition building and community action.
“No digital future is just until it is inclusive, free and grounded in dignity for all Africans,” Adegoyega stated.
Also speaking, the Staff Liaison for the WACC Africa Region, Dr Sarah Macharia, commended the outgoing executive, led by Matomklawè Kpalla, for its achievements.
She urged the newly elected officials to build on the successes of their predecessors and strengthen the association’s standing across the region.
The new executive is expected to serve for four years.
