The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has warned members against supporting candidates of opposition parties while claiming allegiance to the All Progressives Congress.

The movement’s Director, Olufemi Onireti, stated this in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday, reaffirming the group’s loyalty to the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Onireti said the movement was unequivocally loyal to the party and all its candidates, from the presidential to the governorship and other elective positions.

He said, “We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” he said.

The movement expressed concern over the activities of some political groups that claim affiliation with the APC but openly promote candidates of other parties, describing such conduct as inconsistent with genuine party loyalty.

“Political loyalty must be consistent. You cannot claim to be committed to the APC while simultaneously promoting candidates of other political parties based on personal interests or political calculations. Such actions raise serious questions about the sincerity of your allegiance to the party,” Onireti stated.

He said the movement would not compromise its principles through selective support, adding that it would not participate in any arrangement that undermined the party’s interests.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC. Our loyalty is to the party, and our support extends to all its candidates,” he added.

Meanwhile, Onireti thanked those who participated in the movement’s inaugural event held the previous week.

He specifically appreciated the state APC Chairman, Moses Adeyemo, and the state Women Leader, Felicia Opatunde, for their presence and support. He also commended executives and members across the state’s zones for their contributions to the event’s success.

The movement urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those with divided allegiances. It also called on APC-affiliated groups to demonstrate consistency, discipline and unity.
