The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Wadada, has pledged to tackle communal clashes across the state’s 13 local government areas if elected governor in 2027.
Wadada made the pledge on Saturday in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state, where Tiv communities from across the Nasarawa North Senatorial District gathered to endorse him for the governorship and incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule for the Senate in the 2027 elections.
PUNCH Online reports that the Tiv stakeholders and farmers also declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, citing his ongoing efforts to address the long-standing farmers-herders clashes in the state.
Speaking at the event, Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed gratitude to the Tiv people for believing in his vision to take the state to greater heights if elected governor in 2027.
He pledged to build a government that would be transparent, accountable and inclusive, with a focus on measurable results.
Wadada said his vision for Nasarawa State was encapsulated in the HEARTS Agenda, which represents his commitment to people-centred governance and sustainable development.
Unveiling the agenda, the governorship candidate said he would prioritise Human Capital Development, Economic Enhancement, Agriculture, Rural Transformation, Technology and Investment, and Security if elected in 2027.
“The HEARTS Agenda is a comprehensive development blueprint designed to consolidate existing achievements while opening new opportunities for growth, innovation, youth empowerment, rural development, economic prosperity, and improved security,” he said.
He added that his goal was to ensure that every community, stakeholder and citizen felt the positive impact of governance, regardless of location, social status, religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
“Security is a key component of the HEARTS Agenda, so I will not joke with the security of residents of Nasarawa State, including the farmers. So, I want to assure you all that if and when I become the governor, the issue of farmers-herders clashes will be a thing of the past.

“We will all sit down together to bring solutions to the matter, and I believe that the effort will also help to ensure food sufficiency in the state,” he added.
He further commended Sule for his purposeful leadership, political maturity and commitment to the unity and progress of the state.
“Governor Sule has laid a solid foundation for growth and development through remarkable achievements in infrastructure, industrialisation, agriculture, healthcare, education, security, and economic transformation. I promise to consolidate on his achievements if I am elected as governor in 2027,” Wadada added.
Earlier, the President of the Tiv Development Association in the state, Barnabas Zayol, said Tiv people in the northern zone of Nasarawa State had confidence in the leadership styles of Wadada, Sule and Tinubu, hence their endorsement.
He said the Tiv people would demonstrate their numerical strength by voting for APC candidates in the 2027 general election, citing the ongoing efforts to address communal issues in their communities.
He said, “This is what we have decided today. We are here because we are not going to make a second decision to anybody. We are strong, we are firm.
“I want to say a big thank you to our traditional rulers in the zone, who have assiduously worked with our other political brothers to ensure the successful endorsement. I also want to appreciate our political leaders who have been assiduously enlightening our people to move in the right direction,” Zayol said.
On his part, Sule appreciated the Tiv people in Nasarawa State for supporting his administration.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Yakubu Kwanta, said an interaction with Tiv people across the three local government areas in the Nasarawa North zone showed that residents at the grassroots appreciated the government’s efforts to improve their livelihoods.
