A large quantity of waste accumulated along the roads in Lalithadripura in Mysuru was cleared by Mysuru City Corporation personnel after directions from the district in-charge and Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddhramaiah, who made a surprise visit to the locality on Friday for an inspection.

Public outrage erupted on social media over the dumping of waste on both sides of the roads in Lalithadripura, with visuals circulating showing heaps of waste. Following directives from the Minister, the MCC cleared the waste, addressing the long-pending civic issue that caught public attention.

To prevent continued waste dumping in Lalithadripura, the Mysore Development Authority (MDA) has installed CCTV cameras to keep the area under surveillance, according to a statement here.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yathindra directed the officials to ensure co-ordination among the Alanahalli Gram Panchayath, Rammanahalli Town Panchayath, the MCC and MDA to prevent waste dumping in the area. He instructed them to take all necessary preventive measures.

After the inspection, the Minister suggested beautifying the area by planting trees along roadsides and constructing a pedestrian path.

Mr. Yathindra directed the civic bodies to create public awareness against waste dumping in the Lalithadripura area. Cleanliness and sanitation must be maintained continuously here, he said. The Minister also warned that those found violating the rules would face stringent action, including legal action and penalties whenever necessary.

During the Minister’s visit, MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha, MDA Commissioner Mahesh and others were present.
