Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa on Friday (October 30, 2026) directed officials for accurate, error-free and up-to-date maintaining of electoral rolls, adding if errors in the electoral rolls or laxity in supervision are found in any district, the accountability of the concerned District Election Officer (DEO) will be fixed.
“The Chief Electoral Officer has directed that all work relating to electoral rolls is currently being carried out through ECI Net; accordingly, every District Election Officer must personally log in through their DEO login every day and regularly review work relating to the electoral rolls, while ensuring effective use of all review facilities available on ECI Net। If unnecessary pending cases, inactive users, incomplete profiles, errors in the electoral rolls or laxity in supervision are found in any district, the accountability of the concerned District Election Officer will be fixed. Appropriate action will be considered based on the merits of the case,” reads an official statement issued by the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), U.P.
The Chief Electoral Officer has also directed that the receipt of Form-6, Form-6A, Form-7 and Form-8, pending cases and their disposal within the prescribed time frame be reviewed daily. “If any application or form is found pending at any level, if there is an unusual delay in disposal, or if a login remains inactive, the reason must be ascertained immediately and necessary action taken,” directed the CEO.
He further directed that no officer should share their login credentials, such as user ID, login password and OTP, with any other person. “No Form-6, Form-6A, Form-7 or Form-8 should remain pending unnecessarily at the ERO marking, AERO marking or any other level. If an application pertains to another district, it must be forwarded without delay to the District Election Officer of the concerned district. Applications marked to the wrong ERO/AERO must be reassigned immediately to the correct officer, and in cases where marking has not been done, marking to the concerned officer must be ensured immediately,” further reads the statement issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), U.P.
