The Telangana government will extensively utilise skills of Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi artists, the official cultural wing of the government, to raise public awareness about the potential impacts of El Nino, including rainfall deficiency and water scarcity, said Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Thursday (October 29, 2026).
The Minister asked officials to use songs, plays and traditional folk art forms to educate people, particularly in rural areas, about the possible challenges posed by the climatic phenomenon and the need to take precautionary measures. Artists will communicate these messages through cultural performances to make them accessible and easily understandable to the public.
He stressed the importance of promoting the judicious use of water, energy conservation and the adoption of cropping patterns suited to prevailing climatic conditions. Noting that Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi artists were unavailable in some districts, Mr. Rao directed officials to deploy artists from other districts to areas facing a shortage of performers.
Following the Minister’s directions, the Department of Language and Culture has assigned 18 Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi artists to conduct awareness programmes in Hyderabad district.
