A symposium titled ‘Oru Desathinte Katha Thedi - Eedu 5: Sreevalli’, focussing on a study and re-reading of the poetic works of poet Vishnunarayanan Namboothiri will be held at Thiruvalla on October 31.

The event, jointly organised by the Kendra Sahitya Akademi and the Kaazcha Charitable Trust, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Amphitheatre of the Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Thiruvalla. Poet Prabhavarma will inaugurate the seminar, while Sahitya Akademi Advisory Board Convener K.P. Ramanunni will preside over the function. Sahitya Akademi Regional Secretary Shanmukhananda will welcome the gathering, and Sahitya Akademi Secretary Varun Gulati will deliver the introductory speech. Renowned Kannada writer Jayant Kaikini will deliver the keynote address and Kaazcha Charitable Trust Chairman Blessy Ipe Thomas will be the chief guest.

The academic sessions will explore two major themes: ‘Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri and Malayalam poetry’ and ‘poetry, spirituality, and nationalism’.

The symposium is the fifth in a series of 24 academic gatherings under an initiative to document the history and heritage of Thiruvalla and surrounding regions. Spanning ancient times to the present, the project encompasses research into local history, cultural evolution, historical personalities, socio-cultural movements, renaissance activities, and heritage preservation through symposia, research essays, and heritage trips. An ‘Insight’ journal compiling the findings of these sessions will also be published.

University and college students, researchers, and literature enthusiasts interested in participating can register through the official website of the Kaazcha Charitable Trust. For more information, contact: 9061810182, 9847535454.
