Mysuru has figured in the list of cities adjudged for the Swachh Survekshan-2025-26 awards, with the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) receiving a formal invitation from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to attend the award presentation ceremony scheduled to be held in New Delhi on November 11.
The invitation marks Mysuru’s inclusion in the national-level recognition for urban cleanliness and sanitation.
The prestigious Swachh Survekshan-2026 awards would be presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
However, there is no official information yet on the category in which Mysuru has been selected for an award or the rank it has secured. The details will be known only after the rankings and award categories are officially announced.
In 2024-25, Mysuru was ranked 3rdcleanest city in India in the 3 to 10 lakh population category under Super Swachh League (SSL), which was a newly introduced category. Mysuru was ranked the cleanest city in India for two consecutive years – 2015 and 2016.
MCC Commissioner M.K. Savita and a team of officers are visiting New Delhi for the award function. Minister in-charge of Mysuru district and Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah and senior officials were also expected to attend the function, sources in MCC said.
Expressing happiness over the invitation, Ms. Savitha credited Mysuru’s cleanliness initiatives over the years to the collective efforts of former commissioners, health officials, pourakarmikas, and engineers, who, had worked together as a team to address the shortcomings identified in earlier surveys to bring recognition to the city.
The MCC Commissioner said that the 11th edition of Swachh Survekshan had commenced and expressed hope that Mysuru would secure a good position in the 2026-27 survey as well.
The 10th edition of Swachh Survekshan-2025-26 was conducted under the theme ‘Swachhata Ki Nayi Pehel – Badhayein Haath, Karein Safai Saath’.
Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar expressed happiness over the MCC being invited to the Swachh Survekshan award function and congratulated pourakarmikas and citizens for their efforts. “Let us all work together to further enhance Mysuru’s reputation on the cleanliness front,” he added.
“This is a proud moment for the State. Official announcement of the ranking is awaited. I congratulate the pourakarmikas, MCC officials, staff and citizens of Mysuru ahead of the award presentation,” said the Urban Development Minister, in a statement.
