A research team from Keralam has secured an Indian patent for an automated system designed to improve the efficiency of medicine preparation and dispensing in homeopathy dispensaries, clinics and pharmacies.
The invention introduces automation into the homeopathy medicine dispensing process. The system aims to reduce manual intervention and improve the accuracy, consistency and efficiency of dispensing operations. The endeavour has been titled ‘Digitally Controlled Sliding and Sealing Mechanism for Automated Dispensing’.
The team comprises M.V. Rajesh, Director of the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD); Safad Ismail, Assistant Professor in the Department of Cyber Security at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS); Harsha Vasudevan Pillai of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool; and Mohammed Iqbal R., Managing Director of Yes Sky Enterprises.
The research team focuses on developing practical and cost-effective technological solutions for healthcare by using emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, chip-level integration, embedded systems, optical sensing and intelligent automation.
According to the researchers, the innovation also highlights the potential for integrating digital technologies into the AYUSH healthcare sector, including homeopathy. The development, they added, could pave the way for more intelligent, connected and digitally enabled healthcare systems, while opening up further opportunities for automation in medicine dispensing.
