Chief Minister invokes Siddaramaiah’s visits to the district, stresses Buddha’s message of peace and development

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday dismissed the superstition that visiting Chamarajanagar could lead to a loss of political power, citing former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s visits to the district during his eight-year tenure.

Speaking to reporters at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in Chamarajanagar, where he was attending the inauguration of the International Buddhist Conference, Mr. Shivakumar said Mr. Siddaramaiah had visited the district while in office and provided good governance.

“There is no meaning in the belief that visiting Chamarajanagar would lead to a loss of power. What matters is that we act with sincerity and faith. We pray to God for good things, and we must ensure that we do not commit any wrongdoing,” he said.

Mr. Shivakumar said the visit was intended to pray for the district’s development and progress and to reflect on the teachings of Gautama Buddha.

“Buddha conveyed a profound message to the world on humanity, sacrifice, peace and development. We must understand his teachings and incorporate them into our lives. We should not view everything with suspicion,” he said.
