The NDA partners — Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party — swept the polls in all five civic bodies of Srikakulam and Parvatipuram-Manyam districts. The leaders are in a jubilant mood over TDP’s victory in Palasa-Kasibugga and Ichchapuram towns. TDP candidate Vajja Ganga Bhavani defeated her nearest rival, YSRCP nominee Talasu Sri Padma, by a margin of 8,845 votes in Palasa-Kasibugga town of Srikakulam district. TDP candidate A. Leela Rani defeated YSRCP nominee P. Rajya Lakshmi by a margin of 5,834 votes in Ichchapuram town.

Ms. Rajya Lakshmi, who held the chairperson post for two terms, was defeated for the first time. Finally, the TDP emerged victorious in Ichchapuram, the border town of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu and other TDP leaders congratulated the newly elected chairpersons and ward members of Palasa-Kasibugga and Ichchapuram towns.

In Parvatipuram-Manyam district, TDP candidate Belagam Karuna defeated her nearest rival, YSRCP candidate P. Saisri, in the Parvatipuram municipal elections. TDP MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra and his wife, TDP leader Bonela Anusha, congratulated Ms. Karuna and urged her to ensure rapid development in the district headquarters.

In Salur, Jana Sena Party chairperson candidate Gorle Vijayakumari won against YSRCP nominee Ribka Rani with a decent margin of votes. Independent candidate Gulla Manjeera gave a tough fight to the candidates of the ruling alliance. The JSP, which was allocated the chairperson seat during seat-sharing, received support from TDP and BJP in Salur, one of the border towns of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

The JSP also emerged victorious in Palakonda, JSP nominee Palla Vijaya Nirmala defeated YSRCP nominee Palavalasa Indumati with a huge margin of votes.

According to the results so far, JSP, TDP, and BJP jointly won 23 wards and YSRCP was confined to four wards.
