The Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners’ Association has appealed to the State government to extend the deadline for payment of quarterly vehicle tax for October 2026 to November 30 without imposing any penalty, citing the difficulties caused by recent cyclones, heavy rains and floods.

In representations submitted on November 6 to Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy, Secretary Kona Sasidhar and Transport Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha, the association’s State general secretary Y.V. Eswara Rao sought an extension to enable lorry owners to pay the tax without any additional financial burden.

Mr. Eswara Rao said heavy rains and floods had severely affected the transport business in several districts, particularly Srikakulam, the Godavari districts and parts of North Andhra. Flooding of roads had disrupted lorry movements, leaving several vehicles stranded and affecting their operations.

He said lorry owners were already grappling with rising diesel prices, vehicle maintenance costs, toll charges and other financial burdens. The recent natural calamities had further compounded their difficulties, making it difficult for them to pay the quarterly vehicle tax within the stipulated deadline.
