T.B. Mini, a lawyer, has approached the Kerala High Court against the alleged adverse remarks made by District Judge Honey M. Varghese in a case pertaining to the alleged actor assault of 2017.
The Single Bench of Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan adjourned the matter to November 4.
The petition alleged that Ms. Varghese, while considering a case related to the alleged leak of memory card in the 2017 actor assault case, orally remarked that Ms. Mini had only appeared in court for 10 days during the trial, and that on the days of appearance she would only attend court for half an hour and that for half that time, she would be nodding off in court, treating it as a resting place.
Ms. Mini said that the alleged remarks were made in public, allowing the media and social media platforms to air them within seconds. The petitioner cited several comments about her on social media after the judge’s alleged remarks. She claimed that the unwarranted comments related to her conduct and character as a counsel were amplified by the media and “destroyed the petitioner as a person and her status as a lawyer”.
