The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged the State government to expedite the development of the Dharwad Industrial Node, part of the Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, to attract investment and generate employment in north Karnataka.

In a press release issued on Saturday, KCCI president Sandeep Bidasaria said the proposal in the State Budget 2026-27 to allocate ₹600 crore for acquiring 1,000 acres for the project offered a significant opportunity for regional development.

The project is expected to attract investments of about ₹30,000 crore and generate 75,000 jobs, he said.

Mr. Bidasaria called for a time-bound action plan covering land acquisition, statutory approvals and infrastructure development. He said the industrial node should have uninterrupted power and water supply, approach roads, drainage and logistics facilities, along with a single-window system, to expedite clearances for investors.

He also stressed the need for skill development and job training programmes to help local youth access the proposed employment opportunities and for integrating micro, small and medium enterprises into the supply chains of larger industries. The interests of farmers and environmental protection should be safeguarded during land acquisition, the KCCI president added.

Mr. Bidasaria urged the Chief Minister, Industries Minister and district in-charge Minister, along with elected representatives, to review the project’s progress and publish updates every three months on fund utilisation, land acquisition and infrastructure development.

KCCI honorary-secretary Uday Revankar said the government should ensure that the Budget announcement was implemented within the stipulated time and its benefits reached people in the region.
