Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and state Congress leaders on Friday (October 30, 2026) left for New Delhi to participate in the INDIA bloc "mega rally" on the "vote chori" issue, and to press for the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter list irregularities.
The rally on Sunday (November 1) is expected to bring together opposition leaders and workers from across the country.
"The Chief Minister departed for Delhi on Friday (October 30). He will take part in the INDIA bloc rally on November 1," JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said.
Several senior Congress leaders, including its Jharkhand unit chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, also departed for the national capital to take part in the rally.
"Thousands of party leaders and workers from across Jharkhand are reaching Delhi for the November 1 march," Mr. Kamlesh told reporters at Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport.
"We will seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protests will continue until he resigns," he asserted.
Mr. Kamlesh also claimed that senior party leaders have exposed the act of “vote chori” (vote theft), presenting “clear evidence and proof”.
"Gyanesh Kumar is acting as an agent of the BJP. We will fight till the very end to protect our Constitution, democracy, and the right to vote, under the leadership of our leader Rahul Gandhi," he asserted.
