28-year-old Jana Sena Party MPTC contestant, Garapati Divya, died of cardiac arrest a few hours ahead of counting of votes at Damanthunigidem Panchayat of Devarapalli Mandal in East Godavari district on Saturday (November 7, 2026)
On Friday evening (November 6, 2026), Divya was admitted to a private hospital immediately after she complained of chest pain.
By that night, Divya was declared dead due to cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment.
A pall of gloom descended on her panchayat as the death left her supporters in shock.
Meanwhile, Divya’s last rites are scheduled for Saturday morning while the counting of her votes is in progress. All eyes are on the result of the Damanthunigidem Panchayat.
