The Sri City plant of Isuzu Motors India (IMI), a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan, is celebrating its 10th anniversary year with impressive profitability.
Established in April 2016, the facility has grown into one of the leading manufacturing bases for Isuzu’s domestic and overseas markets. The globally-benchmarked products are delivered to international markets like West Asia (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan) and Asia (Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh).
Naohiro Yamaguchi, president and representative director, CEO, Isuzu Motors Limited and Shigeru Wakabayashi, Group CEO (Mobility Group), Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan, recently participated in the celebrations marking the milestone in the presence of N. Yuvaraj, secretary, Industries and Commerce, and Ravindra Sannareddy, managing director of Sri City.
Isuzu Motors India president and managing director Rajesh Mittal called the last 10 years of the plant an important journey, which started with the rollout of the first ‘Made in India’ vehicle and reached the 1-lakh mark. “The strong traction in business and operations in the recent years resulted in a 2.5 times profitable growth last year,” he observed.
The plant currently has a skilled manpower of over 1,300 employees, with women making up nearly 28 per cent of its production-line workforce.
