An integrated control room to register rain-related complaints has been opened at the Collectorate in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai districts on Wednesday (October 21, 2026).

According to a press release, Vellore Collector P.S. Leela Alex has urged residents in villages along the banks of Palar River to avoid crossing the river. They also should prevent children from playing along the river bank due to rain.

Residents in low-lying areas have been told to relocate to government-run shelter homes or other safer places away from the riverbank. Local panchayat and revenue officials and the police have been directed to take necessary steps to move residents from low-lying areas along the riverbank to safer places.
