A drunk bike taxi rider allegedly bit a traffic constable while attempting to evade a check against drunken driving in Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad, on Friday night.
The incident occurred near Chandrayangutta crossroads on October 23 when traffic police stopped the rider, identified as Azeez, and asked him to undergo a breathalyser test.
According to Chandrayangutta Station House Officer R. Ravinder, Azeez refused to take the test and created a commotion at the spot.
Police said Azeez was riding an Activa when a constable intervened after he attempted to leave the spot. During the ensuing altercation, the rider allegedly bit the constable’s finger.
The injured constable, Naveen Babu, was taken to a hospital for treatment, the police said. Chandrayangutta Police Sub-Inspector Sridhar Goud lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered against Azeez. Police subsequently contacted the rider’s family and served him notices. Further investigation is underway.
