Commercial operations have commenced at the malt distillery of Allied Blenders and Distillers in Rangapur, Telangana, the company said on Thursday.
A greenfield facility with an approved manufacturing capacity of 4.4 million BL per annum, it will help expand the domestic production footprint and vertically integrate its core supply chain. The facility will enable ABD to manufacture malt spirit in-house, giving greater control over the important input used in its whisky portfolio. This will help ensure consistent quality and provide a steady, dependable supply of malt spirit as production scales up.
Along with meeting internal needs, the distillery will drive new product development and maturation, the company said.
Moving critical production inputs in-house enhances operating margins, insulates core brands from market fluctuations and establishes a robust foundation for next-generation spirits development, said Managing Director Amar Sinha.
Rangapur has evolved into the operational anchor for the company. With grain distillation, PET bottle production, bottling operations, and now with malt distillation, it serves as an end-to-end, integrated manufacturing hub, ABD said.
