Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday said that he and his Cabinet colleagues will not be participating in the protest being held by the AICC in Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on November 1, as they will be taking part in the Rajyotsava celebrations in the State.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister said Karnataka Rajyotsava would be celebrated in a unique manner this time. While he would take part in the celebrations in Bengaluru, his ministerial colleagues would unfurl the national flag in the districts assigned to them, he noted.
Due to the ill health of Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, who is also Minister-in-charge of Tumakuru district, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda would perform the official duties associated with the Karnataka Rajyotsava on his behalf, the Chief Minister said.
While he and the Ministers would stay put in the State, the Congress district and block presidents, as well as party workers, would participate in the protest in Delhi, he said.
