HYDERABAD

Deputy Floor Leader of the BRS Legislature Party and former minister T. Harish Rao has stated that the previous BRS Government had protected the 550 acres of government land in Miyapur, while the present Congress Government is planning to monetise it.

He mentioned that the BRS Government had fought the land case in the Supreme Court and saved it. However, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was planning to sell it now. After the Supreme Court verdict on the land in Miyapur, the Chief Minister held a press conference and everything he said there was contradictory to what was mentioned in the Supreme Court’s records.

The Miyapur dispute reached the Supreme Court as a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in 2003 and became a Civil Appeal in 2013, when the Congress was in power, but the party did nothing. After Telangana was formed, then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had ensured that the land in the heart of Hyderabad did not slip out of the government’s hands. In 2015, he engaged Senior Counsel C.S. Vaidyanathan to fight for the land in the government’s favour, he said.

Mr. Vaidyanathan appeared for Telangana from April 7, 2015 and argued for the protection of the Miyapur land. From 2015 to 2023, for nearly eight years, the BRS Government fought the case without a break. Every petition, every affidavit and every piece of evidence placed before the Supreme Court on Miyapur land was during the BRS tenure.

In its judgment on the land, the Supreme Court said: “It is apposite to discuss the relevant expressions and regulations under the A.P. Abolition of Jagirs Regulations and the Atiyat Inquiries Act. Certain relevant terminologies are being extracted from paragraph 93 of the judgment of this Court in Trinity Infraventures Ltd. v. M.S. Murthy, 2023 SCC OnLine SC 738, for the said purpose”.

So, the real foundation of the Miyapur land verdict was the Trinity Infraventures judgment. That case involving Goldstone Prasad was won by the Government of Telangana on June 15, 2023. “The victory that day and the legal grounds laid down in that judgment are what the Miyapur land verdict stands today,” Mr. Harish Rao said.

However, the Chief Minister held a press conference claiming it as his government’s victory and repeated falsehoods. The plan behind the victory claims and celebration was to sell the 550 acres land having the market value of about ₹60,000 crore now.
