Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta on Tuesday urged the residents of Kurnool to elect coalition candidates as Mayor and corporators of the Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) to ensure that the development projects initiated in the city continue without interruption.
Addressing the media in Kurnool, along with Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy, NDA Mayoral candidate Bolleddula Vijaya Pratyusha and others, Mr. Bharath said several development programmes have been initiated in the city with a focus on identifying and resolving issues faced by the public. He said the issues that had remained unresolved for decades were addressed, and measures were being undertaken to alleviate traffic congestion at Bellary Chowrasta, while 900 new electricity poles will be installed throughout the city.
“An outdoor stadium is being developed at a cost of approximately ₹4 crore, while parks are being improved and government hospital infrastructure is being strengthened. New overhead water tanks are being constructed to resolve drinking water issues in the city. Steps are being taken to bring the ‘Gadiyaram’ (Clock Tower) Hospital back into operation. Our goal is to develop Kurnool into a smart city,” he said.
The Minister said the government was taking steps to attract investments to Kurnool district. “Steps are being taken to set up a tomato processing unit in Pathikonda soon. The establishment of a pilot training centre would create new opportunities for the youth. Job fairs are being organised every three months to provide employment to those currently unemployed,” he said, and criticised the previous YSRCP government for failing to attract industries to the district.
Stating that the coalition government was giving equal emphasis to both development and welfare, the Minister dared the YSRCP leaders to answer how many industries they had brought to Kurnool district during their tenure. Accepting that there might have been minor issues within the coalition, Mr. Bharath said they were being addressed and urged the public to keep development in mind when making decisions in the upcoming local body elections.
