The Army Service Corps (ASC) motorcycle display team Tornadoes has created a new record for the longest continuous ride while standing on the seat of a motorcycle.
Ahead of the 266th Corps Day and XII Reunion, Major Amrit Panda created a new world record as he covered 154 km by standing on the motorcycle seat. He achieved this feat at the ASC Centre (South), Bengaluru, surpassing the previous record of 107.92 km.
With this new achievement, the ASC Tornadoes has 36 World Records, reaffirming its position as one of India’s most accomplished motorcycle display teams.
“This extraordinary achievement is not merely a triumph of physical endurance and technical skill. It is also a tribute to India’s brave war heroes and a reflection of the enduring values of patriotism, courage, discipline and perseverance that define the Indian Army,” the ASC said.
The journey of the ASC Tornadoes began in 1982 under the leadership of Maj. (later Col.) C.N. Rao, assisted by Capt. J.P. Verma and Subedar Dhan Singh.
The team made its debut at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in December 1982.
“Since its inception, the team has continued to ride Royal Enfield motorcycles, relying on the rugged and dependable machines, complemented by rigorous training, meticulous preparation and countless hours of practice, to execute extraordinary motorcycle formations and daring stunts with precision and safety,” the ASC added.
Their journey has encompassed Republic Day Parades, high-altitude expeditions and displays in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Recent highlights include participation in the 2026 Army Day Parade, the Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride and the challenging Raid de Himalaya.
