Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members on Friday (October 30, 2026) took out a protest march in Bihar’s Patna under the campaign ‘Loktantra Bachao Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, End Anarchy).

Hitting out at the Congress party, the ABVP members gathered at Kargil Chowk to convey the message of unity against alleged attempts to weaken democracy and democratic institutions. Despite continuous rainfall, a large number of students and activists from various districts of north Bihar and south Bihar participated in the programme.

Holding the national flag and ABVP flag, the protesters crossed the police barricades and marched towards Dak Bungalow Chauraha, where the rally concluded. ABVP National Secretary Abhay Pratap Singh and newly elected Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) President Yash Dabas were leading the march.

The protesters also broke the police barricading near JP Golambar before reaching Dak Bungalow and attempted to stand on the barricading.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Singh said, “India is a democratic country where governments are formed and changed through the people’s votes, not through demonstrations of strength on the streets. Anarchy aimed at changing governments in India, inspired by political developments in Bangladesh and Nepal, is unacceptable.”

“Amid questions surrounding the role of external forces, it is clear that India’s political direction will be determined by Indian citizens. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is a regular administrative process, and allegations of irregularities in it should be raised before constitutional forums with supporting evidence,” he added.

Mr. Singh pointed out that raising questions about the credibility of institutions like the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Supreme Court for political interests, and attempting to bring them under pressure, goes against democratic principles.

“Those who are dreaming to bring a change of Government in India through anarchy, must understand that India’s democracy is strong and the future of Governments here is decided by the people,”Mr. Singh said.

ABVP called upon the youth of the country to remain vigilant in protecting the dignity of constitutional institutions, democratic values and national interest, and to oppose the politics of anarchy and mobocracy through democratic means.

“The roots of India’s youth lie in its rich cultural heritage, civilisational consciousness and sense of duty towards the nation. India’s youth take pride in their cultural identity and believe in positive, constructive and democratic approaches to resolve the country’s challenges,’ Mr. Dabas said.

He also said that through the student march in Patna, students have made it clear that the energy of Indian youth will be channelled towards nation-building, social harmony and strengthening the country’s cultural heritage.
