Sir, – Marianne McMullin has had difficulty finding the section of the highway code which exempts cyclists stopping at a red light (“Seeing red over cyclists’ behaviour on our roads”, Letters, October 21st). Always happy to assist; might one suggest it is a subsection of the piece that encourages them to cycle on the footpath. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Marianne McMullin (Letters, October 21st) asks which section of the highway code exempts cyclists from stopping at a red light. I believe it’s in the well-thumbed appendix that allows pedestrians to cross when their light is red. – Yours, etc,
MATT DAVEY,
Rathgar,
Dublin 6.
