High tide in Donegal Town during Storm Boelo

Strong winds will cause difficult travelling conditions

A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for counties Donegal and Mayo, with very strong winds leading to difficult travelling conditions.

The warning, which came into effect at midnight, will remain in place until midday.

Met Éireann said there will be very strong and gusty southerly winds, making driving and cycling conditions difficult.

It has also warned of loose objects and debris, with some fallen trees and branches.

A separate yellow wind warning for Antrim and Derry is also in effect and will expire at 9pm.

It comes as engineers are continuing to work to restore power to some customers who lost supply during Storm Boelo.

ESB Networks said a number of homes, farms and businesses remained without electricity in the north-west yesterday afternoon.

Around 53,500 properties on the island of Ireland were left without power yesterday morning after the storm swept in from the Atlantic.

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks said power has since been restored to all 12,500 customers affected.
