Sir, – I am weary from listening to reports about hospital overspending by millions of euro. We are told that our health services are in bad shape financially.
One way of reducing these crippling overheads is blindingly obvious. Simply reduce the temperature. Every medical facility a person enters nowadays resembles a sauna.
This level of heat is totally unnecessary and is in fact quite dangerous for patients and staff alike. Hospital overheating is a big danger that directly encourages bacteria to multiply and increases the risk of serious patient infections.
It also results in staff fatigue, and working in such an environment impacts staff health.
So, please, please, please turn down the heat. – Yours, etc,
ANTOINETTE DWYER,
Old Kildimo,
Co Limerick.
