A 47-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his partner, whose body was found in Finglas in Dublin on Monday morning.
Daniel Simion Toader, a Romanian national, appeared before Dublin District Court, charged with the murder of 48-year-old Loredana Morosanu at their home at Melville Terrace.
Emergency services were called to the house at 4.30am yesterday and found Ms Morosanu.
The pharmacy worker, who was originally from Romania but had lived in Ireland for several years, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Simion Toader stood with his hands in his pockets at the start of the two-minute hearing.
He then sat and spoke only to a court-appointed interpreter.
He had no legal representation in court.
Most criminal law solicitors in Dublin have withdrawn their services in response to legal aid payment reforms introduced in July, causing widespread disruption to the criminal justice system.
Detective Sergeant Niall Murray gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution to the court.
He told the court that the accused was arrested and charged yesterday evening at Finglas Garda Station and he made no reply to the charge.
Judge Máire Connelly remanded him in custody to appear again via video link at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday, 3 November.
