The prosecution in the trial of Russell Brand is expected to finish presenting its case this week, with court proceedings resuming in London today.
Fifty-one-year-old Brand – one of the most recognisable faces in the entertainment industry – has been accused of seven charges of sexual violence: three of rape, three of sexual assault and one of indecent assault.
He denies all charges and says all sexual encounters were consensual but have since been “reimagined” by his accusers.
The six women, who do not know each other, came forward to police independently of one another following a 2023 Channel 4 Dispatches documentary titled “Russell Brand: In Plain Sight”.
Their allegations relate to events as far back as 1999 when Brand was 24.
The court has been sitting for 10 days over the past two weeks. What has it heard so far, how has Brand conducted himself on the way into court each day, and will he take the stand?
To find out, we speak to Sachelle Connor, journalist and presenter of Four the Record: Russell Brand on Trial, a daily podcast from Channel 4 News.
