James McGinn and Biddy O'Brien who died in Bray house fire

James McGinn and Bridgid 'Biddy' O Brien were found dead at their home yesterday

Gardaí are awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations on the bodies of a man and a woman found dead in Bray to help determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Bridgid 'Biddy' O Brien and her partner James McGinn were found dead at their home in the Cois Cairn estate yesterday morning.

The State Pathologist Dr Sally Anne Collis has been carrying out post-mortems on the bodies of the couple as the forensic examination of their home in Bray continues.

Ms O'Brien's body did not show any signs of violence, and she may have been in the house for some time before her body was discovered, possibly by her partner, who subsequently sustained what are believed to be knife wounds and died violently.

Gardaí do not believe anyone else was involved in their deaths.

Gardaí stress they are keeping an open mind, following all lines of inquiry, and are treating the case as a tragedy at this stage.

The couple lost their two children, four year old Jordan and two year old Holly, along with her cousin and her child in a house fire in Clondalkin nine years ago and had been dealing with the pain and grief since.
