Tánaiste Simon Harris said the party would develop a new blueprint for a unified island in June

The Fine Gael Ard Fheis is due to take place at University College Cork.

This weekend's ard fheis is Fine Gael's first since 2024, with a changing political environment meaning much is up for discussion.

The party's future unified Ireland policy and a review of its own identity is expected to be under discussion.

Around 1,200 members will debate more than 450 motions across the weekend, including a discussion tomorrow on the party's united Ireland policy - a document that will focus on the economic and cultural realities of such a move.

In June, Tánaiste Simon Harris said the party would develop a new blueprint for a unified island.

He said the publication would define what a unified Ireland could mean in practical terms, politically, economically and societally.

Most attention is likely to be placed on this afternoon's discussion on the party's year-long internal review into its identity.

Among its 65 findings were that some party members no longer know what Fine Gael stands for.

In his keynote speech, which will be broadcast live on RTÉ this evening, Mr Harris, the party leader, is likely to say yesterday's bomb threats against media outlets underline the changing reality now facing Ireland.

RTÉ and other media organisations around the country were evacuated yesterday following a bomb threat.

The alarm was raised after an email was sent to the national broadcaster, as well as other media outlets across Ireland and Britain.

Mr Harris said yesterday the bomb threat was "very concerning".

He said the matter is "being investigated and taken extraordinarily seriously" and that gardaí, the Defence Forces and cyber security experts are working together on the issue.
