The move will bring the total investment in the fund in 2027 to €5.8 billion

An additional €1 billion could be added to the Future Ireland Fund under proposals due to be considered by Government.

The move will bring the total investment in the fund in 2027 to €5.8bn, with the monies to be used to deal with an ageing population and the expected demographic pressures.

The decision to allocate an additional €1bn to the fund will see the total transfer reach €22.77bn by the end of 2027.

Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris is expected to tell the Cabinet that investing in the fund is a vital step in protecting future generations from future economic shocks and rising costs.

He will say that putting money aside now will help ensure the young are not left to shoulder a financial burden that could have been avoided.

Subject to Cabinet approval, the Tánaiste will bring the necessary resolution before the Dáil before the end of the year to facilitate the additional transfer in 2027.

State entities were directed to prioritise the transfer of lands required for nationally important infrastructure

Separately, Public Expenditure Minister Jack Chambers will inform the Cabinet of progress in accelerating the transfer of State-owned lands required for infrastructure projects.

State entities have now been directed to prioritise the transfer of lands required for nationally important infrastructure and to streamline internal approvals processes to significantly reduce the time taken to complete transactions.

Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton will ask the Government to note the establishment of the Forum on Inclusive Education for Students with Special Educational Needs with its first meeting due in November.

The forum will bring together key stakeholders to develop a shared vision for inclusive education and identify practical actions to support students with special educational needs.
