VANCOUVER – Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Chris Tanev says all signs point to his return Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

The 36-year-old skated alongside Morgan Rielly at practice Friday in Vancouver after being sidelined with an upper-body injury since Oct. 10.

Tanev said he feels good after undergoing the recommended treatment and hopes to be ready to play against his former team.

He did not disclose the nature of the injury but said it was unrelated to the spine and groin injuries and concussion that limited him to 11 games last season.

Tanev, who has one assist in six games this season, was hurt in Toronto’s 6-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche, leaving after five first-period shifts. His status was upgraded from week-to-week to day-to-day earlier this week.

The Maple Leafs remain without top-six forwards John Tavares and Kirill Marchenko, who are both out week-to-week with lower-body injuries.
