Vin-Cenzo’s

Italian$$

This venue is included in Good Food’s 100 Essential Restaurants list.

There are the hot restaurants, the new restaurants, the ones where everybody goes to see and be seen. And then there are the all-timers, the restaurants we live in and return to again and again. Vin-Cenzo’s, surely, belongs to this category.

It’s the kind of place where candles flicker slowly over white tablecloths, where a perfect sphere of fior di latte gelato melts slowly over a warm fig and olive oil cake, where time extends and stretches out. Waiters live and breathe it, too. Ask for a steer and they’ll build you a meal – marinated olives to start, a lightly toasted finger sandwich of veal tongue and scamorza to snack on, an interlude of chicken and mortadella agnolotti suspended in golden broth.

Chicken under a brick? Duck lasagne with a hint of liver? Each plate has depth and detail for days. When can we come back?

Good to know: The one-page wine list is just the beginning – ask to see the cellar list if you’re serious.
