A Sydney man accused of grooming a child and possessing child abuse material was allegedly “engaging in a sexual act” at a bus depot in the city’s north-west when police arrested him.

Police from the Sex Crimes Squad’s child exploitation unit had arrived at the Busways depot at Windsor just before 7am on Monday following reports about the man’s online activities earlier in October.

Busways bills itself as the largest Australian-owned bus operator, with more than 2800 employees across 20 bus depots, the majority of them in NSW. It operates school bus services and contracted public bus services across Sydney’s west, north-west and north shore, as well as other regions in the state.

A Busways spokesperson said the company was aware of Tokcan’s arrest at its Windsor depot but was “unable to comment further”.

“We take the matter extremely seriously and will co-operate with NSW Police as required,” they said.
