Lamarre-Condon met Jesse Baird in 2022

He says he met Jesse Baird in early October 2022 at Universal nightclub on Oxford Street in Sydney.

"For the months of October to November 2022 I would say we were friends with a sexual relationship.

"December 2022 that's when we started going on romantic dates."

He said he would show Baird, who was new to Sydney, around town.

"He was very outgoing and into sporting activities and willing to give anything a crack."

Time at Youth Command

By Millie Roberts

In 2021, Lamarre-Condon started worked at Youth Command in Glebe.

"I wanted to deter youth crime ... that's something I was passionate about," he said.

He said he wanted to escape the "torment and bullying" he experienced at the Surry Hills police command.

Eight months later, the same commanders "transferred over" to Youth Command as well.

What he told a friend in jail cont.

By Millie Roberts

In the audio recording of the visit, Lamarre-Condon continued telling a friend about February 19, 2024 — the day Baird and Davies died.

  • He says after seeing  the delivery driver, he put on a jacket "pretending" to be one as well
  • Lamarre-Condon knocked three times, he says, on Baird's front door: "What do I do, thinking no-one's home? Go in"
  • The accused says he was unaware Baird was moving out, and called out to see if anyone was home
  • He says he was looking for his "stuff" and says he can't discuss the specifics when he went into the kitchen where "shit's going down"
  • Baird allegedly was holding a knife while packing boxes, Lamarre-Condon says
  • He denies "technically" breaking and entering because Baird got a key cut for him in the past
  • Lamarre-Condon says he "panicked" because the cops wouldn't "believe" him

Lamarre-Condon is in the witness box in court today to give evidence.

What he told a friend in jail

By Millie Roberts

Also tendered in court is a 51-minute recorded conversation between Lamarre-Condon and a friend in December 2024.

The friend can't be identified for legal reasons.

In the terse exchange, he says he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to Jesse Baird "only and no-one else".

He also said:

  • Baird had blocked him "on everything" and the accused said he had no way to ask how to get his own belongings back from the Paddington terrace in February 2024
  • He says he made a joke about a body fitting in a surfboard bag, but "I would do the same thing tomorrow" because of his sense of humour and that he had previously bought Baird a surf board
  • The accused says he had his police-issue gun on him "legally and lawfully" because he does a "lot of extra shifts" for events
  • He says he drove to Baird's in a hire car his mum had because her vehicle was in for a service, and couldn't have taken his Tesla because the surf board he wanted to retrieve wouldn't fit
  • Lamarre-Condon couldn't tell if Baird was in the house or not and says he didn't want to knock to avoid confrontation and escalation to police
  • He says he left to return his gun, but on the way ran into an Uber Eats delivery driver in a high-vis jacket

"This right here is why everything kicked off," he says.

Beau Lamarre-Condon's handwritten statement

By Millie Roberts

Beau Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to murder and is arguing self-defence.

We've heard snippets of what he told friends in days after Jesse Baird and Luke Davies's deaths in court.

The jury has also seen a written statement the accused made in June 2025.

It outlines the evidence he says he "would be prepared, if necessary, to give in court as a witness".

In it, he alleges a woman known as Elizabeth Kennedy helped him dispose of the bodies in a hire van outside of Sydney.

He says he told her "Jesse was dead" on February 20, 2024.

That was a day after the alleged murders.

Beau Lamarre-Condon claimed she deterred him from going to the police and the next day, said "we have to get rid of them straight away".

Ms Kennedy denies his version of events and rejects any suggestion she helped him dispose of the bodies.

The statement also references discussions with his lawyers about the pleas he considered entering.

"I also wanted to do the right thing for the families, as they deserve to know the truth too," he wrote, about Ms Kennedy's alleged involvement.
