Oodgeroo MP Amanda Stoker will replace Amanda Camm as child safety and domestic violence minister.

She will also take on Ms Camm's former portfolios of families, seniors and disability services.

Ms Camm advised the premier she would be standing down on Thursday, and made clear it was her decision.

It's the first major change to Premier David Crisafulli's ministry since the LNP came into power in 2024.

Ms Camm returned from six weeks' sick leave just a fortnight ago, after undergoing "major surgery".

Ms Stoker was assistant minister for finance, trade, employment and training, and a federal senator for Queensland from 2018 to 2022.

Ms Camm had faced months of intense scrutiny over children in residential care sleeping on the floor of child safety offices, and cuts to the DFV prevention sector in the latest state budget.

She said she had realised her recovery was ongoing, and "would not be aided by the position of minister, the ongoing stresses associated with that role and the workload".

She did not commit to recontesting her seat in the next election.
