In short:Β

Josh Addo-Carr's future with the Parramatta Eels remains up in the air as he waits for the club to decide.

Addo-Carr's B-sample from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, and he faces no further action from police.

What's next?Β

Addo-Carr met Eels officials at a board meeting on Monday to respond to a breach notice. His lawyer said he remains "committed to the club".

Josh Addo-Carr's immediate playing future is in the hands of the Parramatta hierarchy after police advised the winger his second result from a roadside drugs test had come back negative.

Addo-Carr met Eels officials at a board meeting on Monday afternoon to respond to a breach notice after it was widely presumed the former Test and State of Origin star would be sacked.

The Eels released a statement afterwards.

"Josh and his legal team were given the opportunity to respond to the notice," the Eels said.

"The club will consider their submission and make a decision in due course."

The 31-year-old allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random roadside test in September.

But police have confirmed to AAP that no further action will be taken, leaving Addo-Carr to potentially earn a stay of execution.

"About 11.10pm on Friday [11 September 2026], officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were patrolling Enmore Road, Newtown, when they stopped the driver of a vehicle for random testing," a NSW Police spokeswoman said on Monday:

"The driver β€” a 31-year-old man β€” was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

"The driver underwent a preliminary drug wipe, which allegedly returned a positive indication for cocaine. An oral fluid sample was obtained and sent away for forensic testing. Following the testing the result has returned a negative result. No further police action is expected."

Addo-Carr was sacked by Canterbury almost two years ago to the day for testing positive to cocaine.

He declined to talk to media after leaving the club's headquarters at Belmore about 6pm.

But his lawyer, Elias Tabchouri, thanked the club for being "generous with their time".

"The club were able to allow us to express our thoughts in relation to this situation," Tabchouri said.

"We remain positive in relation to the negative finding for the B test, and we remain committed to the club."

Pressed on whether Addo-Carr would remain with the Eels in 2027, after bagging 27 tries in his first two seasons in blue and gold, Tabchouri said: "That's a matter for the club right now. We're waiting for the outcome".

"Josh has always maintained β€” and still maintains β€” a commitment to the Parramatta club."
